Griffith Park Zoo was a city-owned zoo in Los Angeles, California that opened in 1912 and closed in 1966 with the opening of the Los Angeles Zoo. The abandoned site of the Griffith Park Zoo, complete with the ruins of animal enclosures, is now a picnic area and hiking trail in Griffith Park.
The cages, caves, and some other enclosures of the old Zoo were left sitting in Griffith Park, some with picnic tables added into their enclosures, and are still there for park explorers to find. Several of the cave enclosures have had their bars removed, but there are still a variety of caves, cages and other enclosures for people to explore.
So, come and explore! Discover unique and fascinating photo opportunities.
